You do not need supplementary or private insurance to consult with Dr Corniola. As a participant in the Swiss Mandatory Health Insurance (LaMal) scheme, he charges the standard LaMal rates for all outpatient services.

Instrumented and non-Instrumented surgery of the spine and cranio-cervical junction
Non-instrumented surgery is performed when it is not necessary to place fixation hardware in the spine. This applies to roughly half of all spinal surgeries. In these cases, the surgeon removes a herniated disc or enlarges the canal through which the spinal cord or nerve roots pass.
Instrumented surgery is performed when, in addition to removing a herniated disc or enlarging the spinal canal, screws or other devices are added to stabilise the spine. These procedures are often more complex but not necessarily riskier. They do, however, require extensive surgical experience, careful patient preparation, and precise management of post-operative recovery.
This involves the surgical treatment of tumours of the brain and spinal cord, as well as their coverings. With over 15 years of experience in a university setting, Dr Corniola has cared for numerous patients with tumour-related conditions. Managing these cases requires expertise and skill, as well as enhanced patient support, provided by a multidisciplinary team including a neurosurgeon, neurologist, radiologist, oncologist, and radiotherapist.
