Reimbursements: What the New Agreement with Insurers Changes

Reimbursements: What the New Agreement with Insurers Changes

Dear Patients,

In today’s challenging insurance climate, some of you may be concerned about whether your semi-private or private health insurance will cover your medical bills. This situation may have led some of you to postpone outpatient or hospital care at private clinics.

For outpatient care, there is no need for concern. Coverage is provided according to the LaMal reimbursement system, which is regulated and available to everyone residing in Switzerland. The amount you pay depends on your deductible, which can range from CHF 300 to CHF 2’500, depending on your agreement with your insurer. Once your deductible is exceeded, all outpatient costs are fully covered by your insurance.

Hospital care works slightly differently, depending on your coverage:

  1. Standard LaMal coverage: your hospital treatment takes place in public hospitals.
  2. Semi-private or private coverage: you may receive care in private hospitals or clinics. Depending on your contract, you may have unlimited access to all clinics or only to certain ones (a list is provided by your insurer). We have recently signed an agreement with insurers that allows our patients to receive hospital care without paying upfront. Bills are handled directly by the insurers, ensuring smooth and seamless coverage for all patients.

Whatever your insurance or coverage, financial concerns should never come before your health. Please feel free to discuss any worries with your treating physician. We are also happy to help you find the coverage solution that best meets your needs.

Yours sincerely,
